Veteran prosecutor Jason MacBride has officially launched his campaign to challenge current District Attorney Jim Ritts in the upcoming election. A Republican with over two decades of experience in criminal justice, MacBride promises to restore integrity and accountability to the DA’s office, emphasizing aggressive action against violent crime, drug trafficking, and drunk driving.
“I am running for District Attorney to bring back accountability, hard work, and common sense to the Office,” MacBride said in his campaign announcement. He underscored his commitment to fighting for crime victims and ensuring the community’s safety through relentless prosecution of serious offenders.
MacBride’s campaign pledges include prosecuting child rapists and murderers, cracking down on drug dealers, and increasing efforts to prevent drunk driving. He also aims to rebuild partnerships with law enforcement, which he argues have eroded under the current administration.
Currently serving as an Assistant County Attorney, MacBride handles cases involving child sexual abuse and crimes against police officers. His background also includes over ten years as Ontario County’s First Assistant District Attorney, during which he prosecuted homicides and other violent felonies. Earlier in his career, he spent eight years with the Monroe County DA’s Office, tackling domestic violence and driving-while-intoxicated cases.
MacBride’s deep ties to the law enforcement community run in the family—his brother is a Monroe County Deputy Sheriff. Together with his wife Robyn and their children, he resides in the Town of Victor, where he says he has experienced the strength and safety of Ontario County firsthand.
“The DA’s Office, and the victims it serves, deserve a leader who will do everything in his power to protect the children and families of Ontario County,” MacBride said.
Republican primaries are scheduled to take place on June 24.
