Cornell to test emergency alert system on Wednesday

Cornell University will test its emergency mass notification system on Wednesday, February 5 at 12:10 p.m.

Sirens will sound across Ithaca, and registered students, faculty, and staff will receive alerts via text, email, or phone. CUView screens and Cornell’s social media will also display alerts.

The system aims to quickly notify the community of emergencies like campus closures or severe weather through multiple methods, ensuring broader reach. In real emergencies, the alerts would include safety instructions.

Visitors can receive temporary notifications by texting “CornellVisitor” to 226787.
