Rick House, Wayne County’s administrator, has announced his retirement effective March 31, citing a desire to spend more time with family and pursue personal interests.
House, 66, served in the sheriff’s office for 35 years before becoming interim administrator in 2015, later assuming the role permanently in 2016.
In his resignation letter, House expressed gratitude for his 44 years of service and plans to assist the county with a smooth transition, consulting with the New York State Association of Counties and a public management expert.
House’s career included roles such as undersheriff, chief deputy, and detective.
