Auburn Community Hospital experienced a temporary lockout on January 16 due to a false report of an armed man on Cady Street near the emergency room.
Auburn police determined the report was a swatting incident and cleared the scene by 8:45 p.m.
Authorities emphasized the disruptive nature of such hoaxes, which strain emergency resources and create unnecessary panic.
