Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Canandaigua man on Tuesday after a reported shoplifting incident at Eastview Mall escalated to felony charges.
Abdiel Velezsotomayor, 46, was taken into custody at Von Maur after authorities said he was caught exiting the store with unpaid merchandise. Deputies, working with East View Mall security, determined Velezsotomayor had previously been banned from the mall following a prior incident.
The charges include third-degree burglary, a felony, and petit larceny. Velezsotomayor was issued another banning notice before being transported to the Ontario County Jail. He is being held pending his appearance in CAP court to answer the charges.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office has not released details about the value or type of items allegedly stolen.
