The Dryden Town Board will hold a second public hearing tonight regarding its decision not to renew the fire service contract with the Etna Fire Department.
Officials cited concerns over inconsistent response rates and financial accountability as reasons for ending the contract, while Etna supporters argue the department plays a vital role in local safety and insurance costs.
The hearing offers residents a chance to voice their opinions before a final decision is made. Mutual aid agreements with neighboring fire departments are currently covering the Etna service area.
The meeting will take place at 6 p.m.
