Finger Lakes Community College now offers a hybrid viticulture and winemaking certification program, combining online coursework with hands-on training options to reach students beyond the Finger Lakes region.
Students can complete practical training either at FLCC’s Geneva campus or through mentorship at licensed wineries. The flexible program appeals to professionals like Abby Selnick from Maryland, who balances her studies with agricultural work and vineyard management.
With nine courses spread over a year, the program trains future vineyard professionals, supporting both local family-run wineries and students aiming to transfer to Cornell’s viticulture program.
