Gov. Kathy Hochul announced plans to unveil detailed immigration and enforcement policies, emphasizing a balanced approach to public safety and protecting migrant families, according to recent remarks in Albany. Her stance follows a Siena College poll showing most New Yorkers support President-elect Trump’s deportation efforts.
Hochul pledged to aggressively prosecute criminals, ensuring those on watchlists or with outstanding warrants face New York’s justice system before potential deportation. At the same time, she vowed to safeguard law-abiding migrant families who contribute to the state and pay taxes.
The new policies are expected by early 2025, with further details anticipated in Hochul’s State of the State address on Jan. 14.
