Serious injuries in crash involving Cayuga County snowplow

A collision between a Cayuga County snowplow and a pickup truck early Friday morning left one driver with serious injuries, the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:25 a.m. on December 6 on New York State Route 176 in the Town of Ira. A Ram pickup truck traveling south collided with a northbound Cayuga County snowplow.


The driver of the pickup truck sustained serious injuries and was transported to Upstate Medical University Hospital. The snowplow operator was taken to Auburn Community Hospital for evaluation and later released.

Emergency responders from the Jordan Ambulance, CIMVAC, Cato Fire Department, Ira Fire Department, and New York State Police assisted at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
