A Canandaigua man was arrested Saturday afternoon after a traffic stop led to the discovery of illegal drugs and an active bench warrant.
Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 36-year-old Juan Garcia-Rivera on North Main Street in Canandaigua at approximately 12:47 p.m. Garcia-Rivera was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree after deputies reportedly found him in possession of five grams of cocaine and 112 Tramadol Hydrochloride pills, a Schedule IV controlled substance.
Further investigation revealed Garcia-Rivera had an active bench warrant issued by the Hopewell Town Court. He was taken into custody and transported to the Ontario County Jail, where he was held for arraignment through the county’s Centralized Arraignment Program.
In addition to the drug and warrant-related charges, Garcia-Rivera received multiple traffic citations. These include operating a vehicle with suspended or revoked registration, driving without insurance, failing to wear a seat belt, and several window tint violations. Deputies also cited him for having only one license plate on the vehicle.
Garcia-Rivera is scheduled to appear in Canandaigua City Court at a later date to address the drug charges and in Hopewell Town Court for the warrant. The traffic violations will be addressed in Canandaigua Town Court.
