The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has spotlighted K-9 Henry, a Belgian Malinois who plays a vital role in patrol and narcotics detection for the department. Born in the Slovak Republic on January 4, 2019, Henry was imported to the United States by Shallow Creek Kennels in Pennsylvania before joining the Sheriff’s Office in 2020.
Weighing 75 pounds, Henry completed rigorous training at the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office alongside his handler, Deputy Justin Lucia. The pair graduated from both K-9 patrol school and detector school, equipping Henry as a dual-purpose K-9 certified in patrol and narcotics detection.
When not on duty, Henry enjoys staying active and playing with his toys. His acquisition was made possible through the generous support of Wayne County residents, whose donations fund the Sheriff’s Office K-9 program.
The department expressed gratitude for the community’s continued support, which helps maintain and grow the K-9 unit. “Thank you to all for your contributions that make K-9 Henry’s service possible,” the Sheriff’s Office shared.
