In a significant show of support for hurricane relief efforts, the Cayuga Nation has donated $10,000 to the Union Springs Girls’ Basketball team’s “Stuff the Truck Campaign,” aimed at helping communities devastated by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
The donation, announced on Oct. 23, includes contributions from several Cayuga Nation enterprises, including LakeSide Trading, LakeSide Entertainment, Sweet Grass Dispensary, and the Cayuga Nation Police Department. Funds will be used to purchase winter clothing, household goods, personal care items, and food for hurricane victims who are facing power outages and severe infrastructure damage.
The campaign’s goal is to fill a 53-foot tractor-trailer with critical supplies for communities affected by flooding and landslides. The Union Springs Fire Department will be accepting additional donations at its Side Pavilion on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 8 a.m. to noon, and Sunday, Oct. 27, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Community members are encouraged to participate to aid those in need along the impacted coastal areas.
