NYSEG revises Finger Lakes project after pushback from residents

NYSEG has revised an $88 million Finger Lakes power line project after pushback from Newfield residents, according to The Tompkins Weekly. The utility is now proposing shorter steel structures instead of taller monopoles for much of the route.

The FLAIR project would rebuild about 21 miles of transmission line between Montour Falls and Ithaca.

The project affects parts of Tompkins and Schuyler counties, including Newfield, Enfield, Ithaca, Danby, Hector and Catharine. NYSEG expects a state decision by the end of the year.
