The Clyde-Galen Fire District and Tyre District firefighters responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer on September 21. Emergency crews, including Chief Officer C. Haig (Unit 962), were dispatched to the scene along with units 949 and 902.
En route to the scene, updated information revealed that a child was in one of the vehicles and the driver had sustained facial injuries. Upon arrival, Unit 962 found one vehicle had gone down an embankment, with both vehicles off the road and not blocking traffic.
Crews quickly began assessing the vehicles and securing the scene. Fortunately, all individuals were safely out of the vehicles by the time emergency personnel arrived. After confirming no further immediate threats, Unit 962 released some of the responding units back into service.
Units 949 and 962 remained on the scene to ensure the safety of tow truck operators, blocking off part of the road as they worked to remove the vehicles. Once the vehicles were cleared, all remaining units were placed back into service.
Other agencies involved included the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, North Seneca EMS, and Eagle Towing.
No serious injuries were reported, and all individuals involved are expected to recover. The Clyde-Galen Fire District credited the quick, coordinated response of all agencies for a smooth operation.
