Drivers in Canandaigua should expect traffic detours this weekend as the Finger Lakes Triathlon brings road closures to the Lakeshore Drive area.
The Canandaigua Police Department said Lakeshore Drive will be completely closed to traffic from the City Pier to Route 364, also known as East Lake Road, during scheduled triathlon events Saturday and Sunday.
The children’s event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The adult event is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 13, from 6 a.m. to noon.
Police said roadways and parking lots within the closed section, including the City Pier, will be inaccessible during the events.
Drivers who are not attending the triathlon are being advised to use Routes 5&20, or Eastern Boulevard, as a detour.
