Deputies said they were called around 2:45 p.m. to a crash with injuries near State Street Road and Robinson Road.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Buchanan was driving a Ram pickup south on State Street Road while intoxicated when the truck rear-ended a Honda CR-V. The impact caused the CR-V to leave the roadway and strike a parked vehicle.

Two people in the CR-V were injured, deputies said.

Buchanan was taken into custody and arraigned through centralized arraignment. He was released with a Sept. 8 court date in the Town of Throop Court.

Because Buchanan is 19, investigators also looked into how he obtained the alcohol.

The Sheriff’s Office said that investigation determined Buchanan had stolen alcohol from two businesses in the Village of Weedsport.

He was then charged with two counts of petit larceny and issued appearance tickets for Sept. 14 in Weedsport Village Court.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact investigators at 315-253-1222.
