Tompkins County and local educational organizations will receive $657,313 from a settlement with e-cigarette maker Juul Labs. The funds aim to reduce youth e-cigarette use and enforce anti-vaping regulations.
Tompkins County will get $473,932, managed by Tompkins County Whole Health and the Department of Youth Services. TST-BOCES, serving three counties, will receive $183,380.
New York State Attorney General Letitia James led the lawsuit against Juul, accusing the company of targeting young people with misleading marketing. The settlement includes restrictions on Juul’s advertising and sales practices.
