A chaotic incident involving gunfire on June 22 led to the arrest of a suspect on July 8. Anthony Canady Jr., 21, of Sodus, was arrested for second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Newark Police responded to a disturbance at 419 Madison Street around 4:15 p.m. Reports mentioned a fight and shots fired. Officers detained a vehicle and found a handgun nearby. They also discovered gunfire damage to a house and spent casings in the street.
Canady, involved in the disturbance and possessing a loaded pistol, turned himself in to the Newark Police. He was taken to Wayne County Jail for arraignment. The investigation continues, with more arrests expected.
