Uber Driver Arrested for Felony Sex Abuse in Ithaca

Authorities in Ithaca have provided an update on a sexual assault investigation after an Uber driver was taken into custody last week in Ithaca.

On May 24 Ithaca Police responded to a report of sexual abuse. The victim stated that after getting into an Uber, the driver drove to a nearby location, parked, and then forcibly touched the victim in the backseat. The victim managed to escape and call for help.

Following an investigation, on June 17, 2024, police arrested SalahEddeen M. Mikki, 33, of Syracuse, for Sexual Abuse in the first degree, a Class D Felony.

Mikki was arraigned before an Ithaca City Court Judge and is scheduled to appear in court again later.
