Fabian Rivera, former chief of the Macedon Police Department, pleaded guilty on May 1 to driving while intoxicated in both Walworth and Macedon on November 20. The plea was entered in Walworth Town Court.
Rivera’s blood alcohol content was 0.25%, more than three times the legal limit, when he crashed his patrol vehicle on Waterford Road near Gananda Parkway around 8:15 a.m. After the crash, Rivera was driven home by Macedon Police Sgt. Brigette Goodfriend, but he soon drove his personal car while still intoxicated. Following a second stop, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office conducted field sobriety tests and took over the investigation.
Rivera resigned the day after his arrest. Upon pleading guilty, he provided proof of alcohol abuse treatment, was fined, ordered to pay restitution, and received a conditional discharge. Goodfriend, who had driven Rivera home, was suspended and later transferred to another agency.
