On Thursday a two-vehicle collision in Benton resulted in injuries to a driver and two minors. According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at the intersection of Pre Emption Road and Havens Corners Road.
Lois H. Garman, 47, from Penn Yan, was driving westbound when she failed to yield the right of way to a southbound vehicle driven by Matthew R. Foote of Skaneateles.
Garman reported shoulder pain, while her passengers, a 12-year-old and an 8-year-old, suffered head and abdominal pain, respectively. The children were transported to Geneva General Hospital and Strong Memorial Hospital. Foote was unharmed but received a citation for operating an unregistered vehicle.
The incident is under further investigation with potential charges pending. Emergency response included the Benton Fire Department and Penn Yan Ambulance, coordinated by Yates County deputies.
