Deputies say a pickup truck rolled over and struck a telephone pole late Friday night in Benton — and the driver was found nearby, intoxicated and on foot.
Tucker Parmelee, 27, of Penn Yan, is facing multiple charges after the crash around 11 p.m. on Pre Emption Road. Deputies say Parmelee didn’t have the owner’s permission to use the vehicle and showed signs of intoxication when they found him walking through a nearby field.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and several traffic violations including speeding and moving unsafely from a lane. He also faces charges for driving without a license and while impaired.
Deputies took Parmelee to the Yates County Jail for a breath test. He was released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Benton Town Court.
