In Horseheads, a man was taken into custody for allegedly causing over $800,000 in damages at the Eaton Corporation. Cory R. Roth, 32, faces multiple charges following a weekend incident where he reportedly trespassed and tampered with the company’s equipment.
The Horseheads Village Police Department reported alarms at the Eaton Corp on March 30, triggered by unauthorized access and the shutdown of key valves for nitrogen and hydrogen, along with the fire suppression system and cooling pumps for furnaces. The resultant damages included overheated pumps, gas venting, and halted production.
After investigating, including witness interviews and security video review, police identified Roth, found at the Relax Inn, as the suspect. He faces charges including criminal trespass, tampering, criminal mischief, and grand larceny, despite not being a former employee. Roth was processed and released by the court.
