Cornell Cooperative Extension-Yates County, in collaboration with the Northwest New York Dairy, Livestock, and Field Crops Team, is scheduled to host the Yates Crops Congress on March 27 at the Benton Firehouse in Penn Yan. Aimed at local growers and agriculturists, the event carries a minimal entry fee of $5, payable at the door, and promises to deliver vital information on crop management, soil health, and cost-saving agricultural practices.

The congress will feature expert talks on a variety of subjects including pest management in corn and soybean crops, enhancing soil fertility through cover crops, and the economic and environmental benefits of grazing cover crops. Speakers such as Mike Stanyard and Jodi Letham will share insights on tackling common agricultural challenges and leveraging cover crops for improved soil structure and nutrient management.

This educational event is not only an opportunity for learning but also for earning DEC Recertification credits. With pre-registration recommended, interested attendees are encouraged to contact the CCE-Yates County office for more information. This congress represents an important occasion for the agricultural community to gain knowledge on best practices and innovations in farming, contributing to the sustainability and efficiency of local agriculture.
