The Yates County Sheriff’s Office recently introduced K9 Edy, an 11-month-old purebred German Shepherd, as the newest addition to their team.
K9 Edy has already started his training with the Sheriff’s office and is under the care of Deputy Dan McGuigan, who will serve as his handler.
The duo is set to undergo a rigorous basic K9 patrol course in Monroe County, lasting about three months, with further training in narcotics work and search operations to follow.
K9 Edy’s addition to the force was made possible through generous donations from the community, stepping in to fill the void left by the passing of K9 Kinni a few months ago.
