Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) in Canandaigua has announced the start of a new Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program, following approval by the state Education Department. The program, set to begin on September 3, is designed as a 12-month certificate course, offering students practical experience in long-term care facilities, hospitals, and clinics. This initiative comes in response to the growing demand for LPNs, with the Bureau of Labor Statistics projecting a 5% increase in job opportunities by 2032.

The LPN program adds to FLCC’s existing healthcare education offerings, including an associate degree in nursing. It benefits from the college’s recently renovated Sands Family Center for Allied Health, featuring advanced simulation labs. This expansion aims to equip students with hands-on experience in settings that mirror real-life healthcare environments.

Prospective students can apply for the selective admissions LPN program, which is eligible for various federal and state financial aid options, scholarships, and emergency funding to support educational and living expenses. More information is available on FLCC’s website, marking a significant step toward addressing the healthcare industry’s urgent need for skilled nursing professionals.
