The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team opened up an 18 point lead at halftime of their ACC match-up with the Virginia Tech Hokies on Tuesday night before a crowd of 20,244 at the JMA Wireless Dome. Just as they had on Saturday against Notre Dame, they let the Hokies climb back. Virginia Tech cut the lead to 7 points midway through the second half but, this time, the Orange was able to respond and pull-away to a 84-71 win. Their 19th win on the 2023-24 season with three games remaining on their regular season slate.

Syracuse’s start sophomore guard Judah Mintz led all scorers in the game with 28 points on 10-17 shooting from the field and a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line. Mintz also dished out 6 assists on the night.

Mintz paced four Orange players who scored in double-figures. The other players J.J. Starling (13 points), Quadir Copeland (12) and Maliq Brown (12). Syracuse has had four players score in double-digits in each of the last eight games.

The win came on Senior Night at the Dome and marked the final home game of the season for the Orange. They conclude their 2023-24 home schedule with a 14-2 record. Up next for Syracuse (19-10) is a trip to Louisville to face the Cardinals (8-19) on Saturday night at 8 pm.
