A Waterloo man was arrested Friday night following a domestic incident that police say violated protection orders and endangered a child.
According to the Waterloo Police Department, officers arrested 38-year-old Matthew Northrop at approximately 9:43 p.m. on June 27. He was charged with two counts of Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
The charges stem from a domestic dispute during which Northrop allegedly argued with the victim and blocked her from leaving the residence. Police say he then took her phone, preventing her from calling 911. The incident took place in the presence of a child, who, along with the victim, is listed as a protected party in a Class B order of protection.
Authorities noted that Northrop has previously violated these protection orders. He was transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility for arraignment.
