The city of Auburn’s Planning Board is set to review two significant proposals on Tuesday: The construction of an 80-bed emergency homeless shelter by Syracuse nonprofit Housing Visions and the establishment of a new Take 5 Oil Change location.
This meeting will address key developments aimed at enhancing community services and expanding local business opportunities in Cayuga County, according to The Citizen.
The proposed homeless shelter, intended to replace the current 16-bed facility at 290-292 Grant Ave., will be a three-story, 7,560-square-foot building featuring 80 beds, nine studio apartments, parking for 14 vehicles, and adequate provisions for landscaping, lighting, and stormwater management.
The proposal from Take 5 Oil Change, a national motor vehicle service company, who wants to open a facility at 232 Grant Ave. is for a currently vacant property. The proposed site would feature a 1,300-square-foot building with two garage bays. This would be Take 5 Oil Change’s second New York location, adding to its extensive network of over 800 locations in 40 states.
Votes on these proposals are expected in January.
