Dollar General is set to undertake a significant redevelopment project in Weedsport, involving the demolition of its existing store and the construction of a new, larger facility.
The development plan was reported on Friday by The Citizen, and spearheaded by Sherburne DGLLC, proposes a 10,640-square-foot store on South Seneca Street.
This initiative is part of the company’s broader strategy to enhance its retail presence in the village.
The project’s site plan application, filed in October, is slated for review by the county’s General Municipal Law committee.
The proposed redevelopment includes acquiring additional land from the Weedsport First Presbyterian Church, located south of the current Dollar General at 8881 S. Seneca St.
This expansion will allow for a larger store footprint and additional parking space, addressing the growing needs of the community.
