A 40-year-old man was airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre with grave injuries to his right foot and ankle following a farming mishap on Friday, Oct. 13.
The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred around 9:20 a.m. on Bergan Farm, situated at the intersection of State Route 224 and Pertl Road in the town of Catharine.
The man became entangled in a corn combine harvester while it was operating.
Officials noted the man, who wasn’t affiliated with Bergan Farm, was taking a shortcut through the cornfield, which had limited visibility.
The unsuspecting farmer operating the combine was unaware of the man’s presence when the accident took place.
