Florida man arrested after year-long investigation in Wayne County

  • Staff Report

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has successfully concluded an almost year-long investigation, resulting in the arrest of Tylor J. Felix, a 27-year-old from Quincy, Florida. Felix is charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a Class D Felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A Misdemeanor.

The investigation gained momentum after Felix was spotlighted as the Wanted Wednesday Individual on the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page in October 2022, leading to numerous valuable tips from the public. The information provided enabled deputies to learn that Felix had escaped to Florida and was staying with acquaintances and family, leading to extensive multi-state investigations.

Despite a lack of cooperation from Felix’s family and friends, persistent efforts by the deputies, along with collaboration with various Florida authorities, enabled them to ascertain his whereabouts accurately. Felix was mobile during the investigation, moving between multiple Florida locations and even returning to New York State occasionally. He was finally apprehended on August 20, during a traffic stop conducted by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, following which he was incarcerated and subsequently extradited back to New York State on September 20.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to the agencies, including those from Florida and New York, that played a crucial role in this successful arrest. It is noteworthy that Felix has additional warrants pending with various other police departments, including those in Clyde, Ontario County, and Seneca County. He will be processed at the Wayne County Jail and is scheduled to appear in Wayne County Court at an unspecified future date.
