First Ward Alderperson Cynthia Brock is running for a fifth term on Ithaca’s Common Council. “We’re back for another swing,” Brock told The Ithaca Voice.
Brock has served 12 years as an alderperson at the end of 2023, making her the most experienced member of council. She believes that “the city is in a state of transition.”
In preparing for campaign season, Brock mentioned the city’s labor force’s staffing issues and dissatisfaction, Ithaca’s aging infrastructure, and meeting the city’s increasing demand for services, which she says are important municipal issues that have been neglected in recent years of city politics.
“In my running again, I feel like I offer some continuity, institutional memory, and someone who has been very consistent regarding a commitment to transparency, accountability, and prudent financial management,” Brock said.
