On January 18th state police in Morrisville investigated a reported theft of diesel fuel from Stewarts Gas Station on State Route 12B in the town of Madison.
The investigation revealed that two individuals had used stolen credit card numbers and cloned credit cards to purchase diesel fuel, which they then loaded into a modified tractor-trailer with a large storage tank via hidden hoses and pumps.
As a result of the investigation, Yosiel Ruiz Linares, 30, of Union, New Jersey, and Jaview Martinez Fernandez, 36, of Hialeah, Florida have been arrested and charged with several crimes. Linares and Fernandez have been charged with four counts of petit larceny, two counts of identity theft, two counts of possession of a forged instrument, and five counts of possession of a skimming device.
Both individuals have been transported to the Madison County Jail to await centralized arraignment. The New York State Police are reminding the public to be vigilant in protecting their personal information, and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
