Deputies: Speed, alcohol both likely factors in one-vehicle crash that sent two to Strong Memorial Hospital

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release they were called to a single-vehicle personal injury crash on Gannett Road in Galen a little before 1 a.m. on Monday.

John Paddock, 56, of Clyde was traveling north on the road when he slammed on his brakes, causing the vehicle to roll over.

Deputies said Paddock was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The investigation is continuing, but preliminary indicators suggest that alcohol was a factor. Deputies said in the press release that they believe Paddock was under the influence at the time of the accident.

Paddock had one passenger in the vehicle. Both were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Clyde Fire Department, Wayne County ALS, Lyons Ambulance, and Eastern Wayne Ambulance.
