The New York Yankees fell to the Seattle Mariners, 7-3, in the series finale on Wednesday afternoon at Yankee Stadium. With the loss, New York dropped two of three to Seattle.
Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and got off to a rough start. The right-hander allowed six first-inning runs, including three home runs, but then settled in and made it through six without surrendering another run.
Isiah Kiner-Falefa drove in the Yankees’ first run of the game with an RBI single. Kyle Higashioka provided the rest of the offense as he smacked his sixth home run of the season. Kiner-Falefa and Higashioka combined for four of the team’s five hits.
Wandy Peralta gave up a run in relief while Jonathan Loáisiga, Ron Marinaccio, and Lou Trivino had scoreless outings.
The Yankees will get the day off on Thursday before they begin a three-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night at Busch Stadium. The first pitch is slated for 8:15 p.m.
