Cayuga County to receive 7K from JUUL settlement

Cayuga County will receive nearly $400,000 from a statewide settlement with JUUL Labs to fund anti-vaping efforts, according to The Citizen. The payout is part of a $462 million agreement over the company’s role in youth vaping.

The county health department will use the funds to support education programs, quitting resources, and enforcement of vaping laws, especially among youth. Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES will also receive over $188,000 for school-based initiatives.

Legislators raised concerns about staffing needs, but officials said no new positions are required. The county Legislature is expected to approve the resolution later this month.
