Nearly 39 years after 8-year-old Staci Ackerman was raped and murdered in Farmington, her family is rallying to keep her killer behind bars. Greg Flint, convicted in the 1986 crime, is up for parole later this month, prompting emotional pleas from loved ones and officials, according to WHAM.
Ontario County DA Jim Ritts said Flint showed cruelty during the attack and should never be freed. Ackerman’s family argues his crime was the culmination of a dangerous pattern. Over 10,000 people have signed a petition urging parole denial.
Lawmakers are pushing for Lorraine’s Law, which would extend the time between parole hearings for violent offenders. While Staci’s father says he has forgiven Flint, he insists justice still demands continued incarceration.
