The New York Yankees needed to move on from outfielder Joey Gallo, and they just did that on Tuesday as they traded him to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for right-handed pitcher Clayton Beeter.
Beeter, 23, was rated as the Dodgers’ No. 15 prospect by MLB Pipeline. A second-round selection in the 2020 Draft, Beeter was 0-3 with a 5.75 ERA in 18 games (16 starts) for Double-A Tulsa this season, showing swing-and-miss stuff. In 51 2/3 innings, he struck out 88 batters against 35 walks.
In 140 games as a Yankee, Gallo batted .159/.291/.368 with 25 home runs and 46 RBIs, striking out 194 times in 421 at-bats.
