A teen accused of stealing a vehicle and crash it into the back of a tractor-trailer is facing criminal charges.
The crash, which happened near Exit 41 of the New York State Thruway in the town of Junius along a busy stretch of State Route 414, happened on May 30.
The unnamed 13-year-old was charged as a juvenile offender with a felony count of grand larceny. He faces other misdemeanor charges of fleeing a police officer and reckless endangerment.
The case will be handled by Seneca County’s probation department.
According to law enforcement officials, the teen was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester after the colliding with the back of a tractor-trailer. They suffered non life threatening injuries.
The tractor-trailer driver was not injured in the wreck.
