The American Rescue Plan funds in the state of California will soon be used to send $1,000 UBI payments to struggling Californians.
The UBI program was announced May 17.
This program is set to benefit 150 households in the state.
11,000 households qualify, but only 150 will be able to participate.
Families will see 24 payments of $1,000 per month.
These payments have no strings attached and families can spend the money however they see fit.
Oakland and Stockton California are testing similar programs.
Income requirements have yet to be announced.
