On Tuesday, the New York Mets announced that right-handed reliever Sean Reid-Foley will undergo Tommy John surgery after being diagnosed with a partially torn UCL.
Reid-Foley suffered the injury in a game against the Philadelphia Phillies on April 30.
In seven appearances this season, Reid-Foley gave up six runs over 10 innings (5.40 ERA) and stuck out eight batters. However, he gave up just two runs in his last four appearances.
The 26-year-old was transferred to the 60-day injured list a few days ago, so the Mets will not have to make another roster move at this time.
