Thousands of families have the chance at $500 monthly UBI payments in the city of Chicago that will last for one year.
5,000 families will be chosen, but they only have until May 13 to apply for the payments.
The program is called the Chicago Resilient Communities Pilot and has $31 million to help families with financial strain.
The applications will close at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, May 13.
They opened on April 25, 2022.
Qualifying for the Chicago UBI program
Residents need to meet certain requirements to qualify for the program.
First, they must be a resident living in the city of Chicago.
Next, they need to be 18 or older in age.
Some could see $350 payments for 10 months, who’s eligible?
Third, they need to show they have experienced financial issues caused by the pandemic.
Finally, their household income must be at or below 250% of the federal poverty level.
For three people that is $57,575.
