UBI programs are designed to pay individuals a monthly payment, and now thousands could see payments worth up to $1,000 in one city.
Baltimore is starting a program called the Baltimore Young Families Success Fund pilot program.
This program will help young families with monthly income.
200 young parents will receive $1,000 per month to help offset living expenses.
Applying for the UBI program in Baltimore
The applications are open for young parents to apply starting May 2 and will remain open until May 9.
Funding is coming from the American Rescue Act.
$4.8 million dollars in donations have been made to help fund the program too.
Qualifications include being adoptive or biological parents to a child or children you care for.
Two programs offering up to $1,000 open applications soon
You must be between the ages of 18 and 24.
Your income must be at or below 300% of the federal poverty line.
After applications are closed, a lottery system will be used to choose the 200 families.
The monthly $1,000 payments will go out for 24 months.
