The Rochester Red Wings fell to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs for the second straight night, this time by a final score of 12-4 at Coca-Cola Field.
Luis Reyes got the start for Rochester and got absolutely lit up. He allowed nine runs on seven hits over two innings while walking three and striking out one. Sterling Sharp followed Reyes and allowed two runs over 3.1 innings. Alberto Baldonado also allowed a run in relief while Reed Garrett fired a scoreless frame.
The Red Wings opened the scoring in the top half of the first after Joey Meneses lined a RBI single to center. In the bottom half of the inning, the IronPigs plated four runs. Jorge Bonifacio crushed a three-run home run over the wall in left-center and later in the inning, Will Toffey brought home a run with a triple to center.
In the top half of the second, Chris Herrmann lined a RBI single to right to cut Lehigh Valley’s lead to two. However, the IronPigs quickly responded in the bottom half of the frame after Darrick Hall belted a two-run home run to right-center.
Lehigh Valley added three more in the third to make it 9-2. Drew Maggi drove in a run with a RBI single, John Andreoli launched a sacrifice fly to center and Donny Sands capped off the inning with a RBI single to right.
Rochester scored two runs in the fifth to try to claw their way back into the game. Matt Lipka picked up a RBI with a groundout and Richard Urena brought home a run with a single to left.
Hall and Bonifacio blasted back-to-back home runs in the sixth and Tofey collected his second RBI of the game with a triple to left to bust the game open.
Andrew Stevenson, Meneses and Urena each had three-hit games.
The Red Wings will try to snap their two-game skid on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
