Seneca Falls man charged with assault, accused of attacking victim with belt

Police say a Seneca Falls man was arrested on several charges- including one count of assault after a domestic incident.

On Tuesday around 8:11 p.m. police arrested Ford Petrie, 22, following an investigation into that incident, which occurred on April 17.

According to a news release, Petrie left the scene by the time police arrived. However, he attacked the victim- punching and striking them with a belt. The victim was also choked during the incident.

As police investigated, they found that Petrie violated a court order and was arrested on several charges.

Petrie was charged with assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, criminal contempt, criminal possession of a weapon, aggravated family offense, and harassment.

Police say Petrie also had a pending bench warrant for violating pretrial release from a prior arrest.

He was arraigned and an order of protection was requested on behalf of the victim.
