Some state lawmakers are pushing back against counties who say they won’t enforce what Governor Kathy Hochul calls a mandate requiring masks to be worn in indoor public spaces.
CNY Central quotes State Senator Rachel May as saying “it’s very disappointing coming into a holiday season.” Part of her district covers part of Madison County, which is one of over 20 counties that have said they will not enforce the mandate. Most of the counties say they lack the resources to do so. Assemblyman Al Stirpe said the alternative to enforcing the “mandate” is to return to the type of shutdowns that marked the early days of the pandemic in 2020.
