Senator Chuck Schumer spoke during an event in Auburn on Wednesday and asked communities if they would be interested in helping to accept Afghan refugees.
He said while getting them out was a success, more work is needed.
He reminds everyone that the Afghan refugees are people that stood up for Americans and risked their lives, especially if they translated for soldiers.
Schumer asks communities to let him know and that Afghan refugees are hard workers and productive members of the community who could open businesses.
