The U.S. is seeing its largest spike in energy demand in 30 years, driven largely by the rise of data centers and artificial intelligence, according to Spectrum News.
Electric Power Supply Association CEO Todd Snitchler also pointed to growing manufacturing and home electrification as major contributors. While bills are rising, he said the increases are tied to infrastructure upgrades—not energy use.
To cut costs, Snitchler recommends demand response programs and weatherizing homes to improve efficiency year-round.
