The New York State Canal Corp. says that if things continue on current trend- all portions of the Erie Canal will open May 21 at 7 a.m.
This includes the Cayuga-Seneca Canal, which runs through the heart of the Finger Lakes.
Infrastructure repairs or changes in the pandemic could impact whether that date gets moved.
There will not be any tolls or fees for use this year of the canal system.
